The normal skin barrier function, which protects and conditions the skins' surface, originates from a special structure composed of lamellar lipid layers. The patented MLE formula, which includes plant derived ingredients, mimics the natural structure of the lipid layers found in the skin. These layers play an important role in moisturizing and maintaining the skin barrier.
The very dry, sensitive and damaged skin conditions targeted by ATOPALM MLE products, are as a result of an abnormal lamellar structure due to the skin layers being deficient in ceramide and fatty acids. Because Multi Lamellar Emulsion, is very similar to the structure and composition of those all important lipid layers in the stratum corneum, it is ideally compatible with the skin and can help reinforce the skin barrier function while helping to soothe, calm and nourish dry, damaged skin.
